Services for Researchers
Harms & Company Consulting offers a broad range of services to individual Research Professionals. We work with our clients to facilitate clear and concise strategic writing for documents including grant applications, research reports and other manuscripts.
Grant Coaching
One of our core offerings is Grant Coaching, where we undertake a project management approach to writing grant applications. We help clients develop strategies for funding research programs and projects. This includes identifying sources of funding, compartmentalizing projects to fit the Funder’s niche, understanding the competitive landscape and editing applications. Applying for funding from both government and non-government sources has become increasingly competitive. Grant Coaching can give clients an edge to help their application stand above the crowd. In addition to telling the story of their research, Coaching helps clients improve their grantsmanship skills by developing persuasive writing techniques.
Research Group Facilitation
Research Group Facilitation helps multidisciplinary teams and centres set clear goals, develop organizational structures and implement plans to achieve deliverables. Services include meeting planning and coordination, building funding strategies and applications, website design and development, research report collation and editing as well as additional required support services.
Patent Mapping
Most research professionals are adept at synthesizing information available in peer reviewed literature. Unfortunately, many are not aware of another collection of literature that is equally important to understand and include in their literature reviews. Patent databases contain a significant body of research that often never reaches the public eye. Complete analysis of the competitive research landscape includes a review of the patent literature. We offer Patent Mapping research to identify potential sources of research funding, find public and private sector collaborators and reviewers as well as identify windows of research opportunity. Teaching clients how to search pertinent free databases and read patent literature can be provided on both an individualized or workshop basis.
