Thanks for your comments David. Fair enough. But I don't think the statements “Mongeon categorizes tech transfer as an unwanted immigrant from the U.S.” and “Mongeon makes no secret of his distaste for the tech transfer approach to commercialization.” are fully supported in the op/ed piece - but that is my opinion.

Yes, I agree that the statements were sensational in themselves, but again as I stated in my other post, I truly believe that the purpose was to stimulate discussion - which I think we are demonstrating it has.

I have to object to your characterization of our recent summary in Tech Transfer E-News derived from Mr. Mongeon's opinion piece. You have made an accusation that we "sensationalized" our coverage. In fact, we merely -- and I think accurately -- reported on Mr. Mongeon's own words, which themselves were quite sensational. The fact that we reported what he wrote does not make our coverage sensationalist. Any controversy or ill will generated in the tech transfer community stems from the original comments and opinion, not from our brief coverage of those comments. That Mr. Mongeon himself used the term "dead" to describe tech transfer in Canada cannot be attributed to our accurate reporting of his words.
